At Tilo, we dispense a wide variety of Chinese Medicine medicinals, both custom made formulas in granule form and ready-made formulas in the form of capsules, tablets, pills, liquids and plasters.

Custom-made formulas are prescribed individually to our patients, out of more than 200 single herbs (we use single herb granules from Sun Ten, a reputable company with FDA approval). Part of an office visit consists in the diagnosis and prescription of appropriate herbal medicinals to assist in the relief of symptoms and the promotion of healing and repair mechanisms in the body.

Ready-made formulas are a convenient way of dispensing Chinese herbs. We prescribe classic and modern formulas from the whole pharmacopeia, either from our clinic pharmacy or we order it to shipped out to our patients directly from the manufacturer. We only work with respected companies within the Acupuncture medical community and which have GMP (Good Manufacturing practices), such as Blue Poppy, Mayway, Evergreen, Kan and Brion herbs

Chinese herbs can be taken in conjunction with other forms of medication (Dr Reid helps patients assess potential interactions with other drugs) as a means to accelerate recovery from illness or injury. They are mostly plant based, cooked and then dehydrated into a powder, and are usually taken several times a day over a period of time. They have relatively very few side effects when compared with prescription medications, and their mechanism of action is often to regulate natural functions and stimulate homeostatic mechanisms (such as repair of tissue, immune response or control of inflammation)

Once you become a patient of our office, we will follow your progress and evaluate your Chinese Medicine prescription several times making any necessary adjustments. It is common to change formulas as your own clinical picture shifts and there are many variations of similar formulas that can address those shifts so that the treatment takes into account the actual current state of the body.

What are Essentials?
